As a general rule, most stores operates a standard return policy and allow returned item 7-14 business days from date of purchase, as long as the individual has the original receipt. Stores can issue a refund or an exchange back to the original method of payment such as a cash refund, refund back to credit or debit card, or store credit for the purchase price.

With the takeaway in mind, letโs begin by looking into a little more detail.
Can You Return A Laptop If Youโve Used It?
Buying a laptop is a major investment, and certainly, for a student, Itโs likely to be your workhorse and one of your most used items!
So itโs important to make sure itโs the right one for you.

If the laptop does not meet your expectations and is still within the return window, then most retailers will offer an exchange window to exchange the laptop for something else, or get a full refund back to your original form of payment.
However, some may impose a restocking fee so it is always important to read the terms and conditions carefully beforehand.

You may also be asked questions about why youโre returning it and what, if any, wear and tear your laptop has experienced.
If there is any damage or wear and tear caused by use you may have to be prepared to accept a partial refund if the store cannot resell your laptop as new due to its condition.
The store may also ask for a demonstration of how the laptop was used to make sure that use did not violate their return policy in any way.

Costco Return Policy – Return request
Listen up, folks! If you’re a Costco member, you’re in luck because their return policy is as generous as your grandma’s cooking. Costco offers a 100% satisfaction guarantee returns policy. So, you can pretty much return anything at any time, no questions asked – except for electronics. Sorry, laptops, you’re not invited to this party.
But wait, there’s still hope for your used Costco laptop. If it’s in good condition, with all the bells and whistles (a.k.a. original accessories and packaging), and you have the original receipt or membership number, you might be able to sneak it past the Costco return police.
Just imagine it – returning a used laptop after six months, pretending like you’ve never used it before. “What do you mean, it’s not brand new? I haven’t even taken it out of the box!” Cue the evil laughter.
Of course, Costco’s return policy could change at any moment, so don’t get too comfortable with your sneaky return tactics. Keep an eye on their website for updates, and in the meantime, don’t spill coffee on your laptop or use it as a frisbee. It’s hard to pretend it’s in like-new condition when it’s covered in coffee stains and has a big dent from your failed frisbee throw.
Best Buy‘s Return – Laptop return policy
Hey, did you hear about Best Buy’s return policy? They’ll take back almost anything, even laptops and digital cameras, within 15 days of purchase. But wait, there’s a catch! If you’ve used the laptop, it better be in like-new condition with all its accessories and packaging. No scratches, no dents, no weird smells – basically, it should look like it just came off the box.
I mean, I get it. Best Buy doesn’t want people returning laptops that have been used as frisbees or spilled coffee all over them. But c’mon, who uses a laptop as a frisbee? And if you spill coffee on your laptop, you have bigger problems than just returning it to the store.
Anyway, if you’re thinking of returning a used laptop to Best Buy, make sure it’s in pristine condition. Or just keep it and use it as a coaster. Best Buy’s return policy may change at any time, so be sure to check their website for the latest updates.
